I skimmed through the comments below and can only second third and fourth what they said! This is incredibly creative but also extremely professional and I would be curious to know if one or all of you are already in the industry. Beyond that, the drawings, animatic, sound, flow, progression, all of it was quite magical. Though the subject of quitting smoking is dear to my heart because Ive been through it and been frustrated when people I care about couldn't, I get the feeling that this team could take just about any subject and turn it into transformative magic!

thank you so much Hally!! Yes, We are in the animation industry, altough outside US. Pietro is an animation writer, aranza works in production, javi is a writer too and I'm a visual development artist, however this was the first time that I did a proposal for a whole pice. It was quite challenging but I'm happy with how It turn out and I'm really glad that so many people like it. : D

You guys!! I love your reel so much. You have such compelling angles and scenes that use lighting so well. It's an inspiration for sure. I especially love the scene when the cigarette is watching the ad. The way you use the lighting and his small eye shift was really effective! Be proud of what you've created! It's so good. There's nothing confusing or unclear to me. You did a great job of developing the story as the weeks went along. :) Nice job!

Wuaaaahh!! You guys even made a song?! Amazing animatic!
I love everything about it. Mood set fantastically with story telling, use of sound and imagery.
Yet again I got emotional and I'm glad she was able to quit smoking.
I hope to see this short sometime realised into a full on animation.
You guys really inspired me and I love the techniques you used. Hope I can make things move like this some time.

what program did you use for your project?

Good luck in the future! 🧡🖤

Hello Varia, thanks a lot for the encouraging message! Javier from our team found that song and we licensed it from a website. (Artlist) Both the tone and the lyrics fit perfectly. My sister was kind enough to record herself humming and singing the same song. Thanks again for taking the time to leave a comment :)

Fantastic work. I have been fortunate enough to follow this story for the past few weeks and the progress you made has been absolutely outstanding and inspiring. Massive props to handling a topic like addiction in a very creative and inventive way. This is a story that may even be appropriate for children and could serve as a teaching them the dangers of smoking. Awesome job! All the best to ya!

Thank you, Eric! Your message helped me realize that the theme of the sacrifice of the person you love also applies to oneself when trying to quit a bad habit. You have to sacrifice your own pleasure in order to obtain the greater good of being healthy. :)

Congratulations! Your team did such a wonderful job with this story. Your boards are fantastic, the audio fits so well, and the editing is spot on. Although there are times when I feel like the narration is not needed, it certainly does not take away from your story. A well rounded story all around. I love it. Wonderful job!

Thank you, Emma! I'm glad you liked it. Belen from our team did all the art, she's really great! Thanks for the note on the narration, we went back and forth with two versions but ultimately decided to include it for clarity. The final version of this story will definitely be without narration nor dialogue.

Write for Animation Team,
From the first week, I've been excited to see how this story would turn out. And ya'll have created a beautiful, captivating story! The illustration style is great! the effects are well done. The sound effects well placed. I liked how the song Maria was writing was reflecting the emotions of the cigarette. Also, the colorful end credits was a lovely touch! Can't wait to see more of your work in the future!!!

I really like the concept of this story-- how a wish turned into a cigarette, and it ended up as the LAST cigarette. I'm unclear about the role of the cigarette-- how did it "help" Maria quit? But if fleshed out more, this has a HUGE potential to be a wonderful animation!

Pietro

Thank you, Melissa. I really appreciate your feedback. The idea to bring that point across is to further develop the moment of sacrifice, Maria's frustration, and her reaction to the cigarette "accidentally falling" into the tea from her POV. Also, we plan to include the moment in which she frames the last cigarette with a lot of care, showing that it's an important moment for her.
