Hey, amazing beginning i love the idea of a dream shop and people popping in to consum a good dream for the day or night. The renderings are enticing and the drawings really bring you into the story. I got lost at about 5 mins in. I think the story can be cut a bit. I would recommend changing the theme a bit that the old women found the good dream to be a nightmare because not everyones idea of a good dream is a good dream. Ones person hope and dreams can be anothers nightmare. Great tho I would defiantly watch this again as it grew.

"Dream Seller" is a story that I love, because it explains what would happen if dreams could be sold. Why is Lauren rich? What importance does it have in the story? Not all dreams affect people in a good way, as in the case of Lauren. Enderr realizes that his dreams are not 100 percent effective, and so he travels to help people. I want to see the short film.

Thank you for your feedback! Why is Lauren rich? It would convey that no matter how much money she has, it can not remove her nightmare, so money can't buy happiness.

What a powerful and creative story! I love the premise of the story and the how relateable fear is and how hard it is to conquer. I wonder how Enderr may inspire Lauren to also be empathetic and help others! And I wonder how good dreams could still play a role after you deal with your more deep rooted fears? All in all loved the story! Well done.

I think you did a wonderful job with your story! I love the idea of the dream seller and the moral of difficulties of the past recurring until really "resolved." The drawings are beautiful and relate well to the story. Great job!

Hey team Eye Candy! I love the character you’ve created and the delightful premise that he can make good dreams for people. It’s very fun and I was immediately interested in his story. The message is very powerful, and I appreciate that you used such a lighthearted way to touch on a very deep subject. If only the affects of trauma subsided that quickly in real life! :)
I do think you could put less time into the exposition at the end and maybe show more in the beginning to lead to those conclusions naturally. You could show some of the customers who had been coming in just for a quick fix, and maybe also show how his perception of them has changed. I could see in this situation he would probably have people become dependent on his product like a daily habit rather than face their own fear/anxieties/etc on their own. Where before he thought he was helping, maybe now he realizes some problems run deeper and need more than just a proverbial bandaid. Maybe he could even create a new line of dreams that helps people face their fears and embrace their inner child rather than hide from them.
I love what you’ve made and I hope you continue to do more with it!! I could see this becoming something like Inside Out, and that’s one of my favorite movies!

Hey Eye Candy team! I love the message in your story and the metaphor of selling dreams to people. It is a little confusing that Ender is the one solving the problem for Laureen, even if she has to overcome something in order to share her trauma. Also that you left the trauma part open. It would be much more powerful to share a bit more of what happened to Laureen when she was a child, and maybe have Ender be a guide for her in the dream world so that she can overcome her nightmares. I love the world that you created and the evolution of the characters. It deserves more love and work! The result can be very inspiring!

What did you like or love about this submission? the drawings & subtitled
What did you find confusing or unclear? it was long
What suggestions do you have to make it stronger? It might be better to have more visual story telling vs the actual text. There were many beautiful drawings however it was difficult to follow along with and pay attention.

On a side note I did want to stay thank you for your team because of mentioning the need for accessibility early on and having subtitles I made sure to include them in my film.

Great job!

Great original story! I think it will be reasonable, in the end, if he teaches the people how to fight their dark dreams and do it together.
I really enjoyed your story reel. Well done!

The Dream Seller

This story is about a young man named Enderr, who loved good dreams. He invented many happy, optimistic, and adventurous dreams. He believed that the good dreams he conjures can bring happiness to people.

Every day, Enderr sells dreams in his store at a bazaar. His shop was popular because people wanted good dreams. He was always very busy at work, with many customers.

One day, Enderr met a rich, old woman named Lauren. Lauren came into his shop in the bazaar looking tired and anxious. She asked Enderr if he has good dreams. She needed to replace her constant nightmares. Enderr reassured her that he has wonderful dreams. Enderr sold her a dream, and she left the store.

However the next day, Lauren was back at his store in the bazaar, complaining that the dream wasn’t good, in fact, it was actually a nightmare.

Because of that, Enderr was stumped, why did his good dream turn into a nightmare? He pondered about his failed dream and determined he had to find out the reason the dream didn’t work. Enderr brought Lauren to his lab and opened her dream up using his dream machine. When her dream opened up, Enderr went into the dream.

Wandering into the dream, Enderr saw that her dream is dark, although he did not find any signs of nightmare. Enderr released a good dream of his into the dark abyss of Lauren’s dreaming mind. He hoped the darkness would lighten up. Suddenly, a black void in the shape of a monster opened, and sucked in the good dream into its vortex. The void grew closer and tried to swallow Enderr.

Because of that, Enderr used his good dreams to defend himself against the void, and tried to slay it. It shrank, but kept coming back bigger. There was no way he could beat the nightmare.

Until finally, Enderr was exhausted and frightened. With one more attempt, Enderr fought back at it. He finally struck the darkness and it shrank. He was surprised to discover that the dark, colorless void of a monster revealed shadows of a little girl. However, that little girl shape dissipated and the huge void returned. Enderr departed the nightmare, and woke up Lauren, asking her about the little girl he saw in the shadows. Lauren gasped when Enderr described the shape of the little girl. Lauren buried her head in her hands, and shared with Enderr that traumatic things happened to her at that very age. The night was long, but Enderr listened with deep care. When it was nearly morning, Enderr asked if he could enter and help the little girl, now that he knows the truth. Enderr entered her dream again and this time, he saw how much the void shrunk. Enderr saw the little girl in the shadows. He gently gave the little girl a sparkling wonderful dream. Lauren’s face began to smile while she slept, with her past being faced, she wasn’t hiding in the shadows where nightmares roamed. Not anymore.

And ever since then, Enderr came to a deep realization that selling good dreams was not enough. Good dreams may give people hope, happiness, and even relaxation, but they cannot bury truths. Nightmares have their way of surviving and surfacing. Some of his customers were addicted to good dreams potions to bury their deep troubles. Enderr knew what he had to do. He left his shop of good dreams in good care of his assistant, should people seek hope and relaxation. Enderr decided he shall seek out people with nightmares.

The moral of the story is that no matter how much we try to escape difficulties in the past, they will lurk as dark thoughts, and nightmares, unless faced upon, will remain deep in our minds replaying our fears and traumas. Maybe we face them, or we bury them. For some of us, we learn to live with the bad, but also hold on to the good. Good dreams are like hope, and allow us the imagination of possibilities.

Thank everyone for their valuable feedback!
